How betas work

1

Apply

Sign in with your Smile account and tell us which apps you'd like to test. Staff look at every application by hand.

2

Get accepted

Once you're accepted, your own beta dashboard opens - that's where you download the betas. Nobody else can.

3

Your own copy, on your PC

Every download is your own copy, locked to the first PC you run it on - a shared copy won't open anywhere else. Moved PC? Reset your PC lock on your dashboard once a week. When that version is released to everyone, it's a normal app.

4

It catches up by itself

Once we release a version newer than your beta to everyone, your app updates to it as normal. Betas don't update to newer betas - come back here for those.

5

Going back

Install the released version from the normal download page. On Windows and Linux it goes straight over the top; on Android, uninstall the beta first.

Betas are for testing. They're signed by Smile like every release, but they're newer than what's been fully tried - something might not work. If you hit a problem, tell us in #feedback on our Discord.
